A Paradiso Paradise

A Paradiso Paradise

USC’s Paradiso combines electronic music with nature at the gorgeous Gorge Amphitheatre. There is really nothing comparable to that mainstage view. Blooming into its 5th year, Paradiso is now squaring up with festivals like Electric Forest, Hard Summer and Tomorrowland with amazing stage production, carnival rides, art installations and a plethora of performing artists. So, if you are gearing up for Paradiso 2016, make sure to check out these featured artists.

No stranger to this scene, Bassnectar has been highly active since his first album was released in 2001. His music has been described as amorphous and ever-changing. Bassnectar is what you could easily call dubstep but it is really much more than that. Elements of hip hop breaks and groovy melodies are always working behind the heavy dripping bass sounds. His set will be one of the more intense acts to see but it will definitely get you on your feet and banging your head.

Gorgon City
This London duo consisting of Kye "Foamo" Gibbon and Matt "RackNRuin" Robson-Scott bring the funky and wavy sounds out in their DJ sets. Their latest album, Sirens, released in 2014 is a deep house journey that will put you in a groovy mind state. This is not fist pumping, brain melting music but Gorgon City has a unique sound that will get your good vibes flowing.

This electronic prodigy exploded on the scene in 2011 when he was only a teenager. His music sounds like the offspring of Daft Punk and Justice who eventually grew up and became roommates with Porter Robinson. Although he is known for live performances using Launchpads and Abelton live, his Paradiso performance will be a DJ set. Regardless, Madeon will put on one hell of a show and push you into a state of bliss.

New World Punx
Two gods of trance music, Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz combine to create New World Punx. Both Corsten and Schulz have been in this industry since the 90’s but formed the group in 2013 after playing many shows together. This group will take you on a journey at Paradiso with their fast tempos, uplifting lyrics and big drops.

The Chainsmokers
Remember their song about selfies? Yikes, but damn was it catchy. Since then, The Chainsmokers have proved they are more than one hit wonders by releasing songs like "Kanye" and "Let You Go". Later the group released their EP, Bouquet, which included "Roses", "Until You Were Gone" (ft. Tritonal) and more. It is great to see The Chainsmokers exploring their sound and not sticking themselves in the “banger festival house” box like many do.
