Raise the Roof: Best Seattle Rooftops

Raise the Roof: Best Seattle Rooftops

I think it’s safe to say that summer is dragging its heels this year which makes the rare Seattle rooftop time even more coveted. From the ever-popular Frolik, the tried and true Hard Rock Café, and the super sleek new hot spot, The Nest at the Thompson Hotel, Seattle is elevating the rooftop game. Get your rooftop rotation locked and loaded so that when the rays peek out from behind the July clouds… you’ll be lookin’ down on the suckers on the sidewalk.

Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails

Frolik’s hip urban rooftop bar is almost always packed. With a metropolitan modern aesthetic, fun cocktails, and gourmet bites, Frolik is the all-around go-to in Seattle rooftops. From the glow of the outdoor fires to the ambient décor, the vibe is a perfect fit for casual after work drinks or a date night under the stars. If you haven’t checked out Frolik this summer (thanks for nothing Seattle weather), note the new menu from Chef Audrey Spence. We loved the guilt inducing crispy fried goat cheese and fresh golden beet salad with spring greens. Get them both while enjoying the rooftop concert series scheduled on select dates through the end of August.

95 Slide

By day: a rooftop for sports fans where day drinking is highly encouraged. By night: a no-thrills dance party atmosphere with hip hop music and booze inspired dance moves. What’s not to love? Rally with a pre-game double by enjoying a refreshing Rainier on the rooftop deck as you judge the pedestrians that walk by below. Then, pop downstairs and watch an evening sporting event of choice. Stay to brush up on those dance moves.

The Nest

The highly anticipated Thompson Seattle Hotel opened with a bang on June 1st including luxe food and cocktail destinations. The Nest is a sophisticated rooftop bar with sweeping unparalleled views of the waterfront – nothing else in Seattle can compare. With the city’s elite (including Richard Sherman) scrambling for rooftop time, those who want seats with a premium backdrop will need a reservation. Book your spot, order a Hummingbird with Hendricks, Becherovka herbal bitters, honey, lemon cordial and lavender, then let the day melt away as the sun sets over the Sound.

Downstairs, guests can enjoy Scout. The Pacific Northwest cuisine experience lead by Josh Henderson has a lavish, cabin-clad dining room where guests can enjoy conceptual menu items like rustic Wild Mushrooms and Trout with clams, artichoke and grilled onion.

Hard Rock Café

And let’s not forget the classic Hard Rock Café. This chill rooftop hosts live music events throughout the summer with views of Pike Place, an outdoor fire pit, plenty of comfy seating, and all the Purple Haze cocktails you can drink. With new menu items like local Beecher’s Cheese Curds in rich poutine, Fresh Catch right from Pike Place Market, homemade clam chowder, and Northwest brews, the Hard Rock is a force to be reckoned with. Get happy hour on the Terrace from 3 pm – 7 pm with slammin’ deals like $3.50 well drinks, $4 draft beer and house wines.

Dukes

After a long walk or run around Greenlake, you’ve earned the Dungeness Crab “Un” Cake and Coco Loco Prawns… On a roof! Go during happy hour for an extensive menu under $10. The menu features wild seafood sourced from the Northwest and Alaska and was also awarded the 100% sustainable seafood rating by Smart Catch. We’re hooked.
