Festival Review: Magnifique 2016

Festival Review: Magnifique 2016
There is really nothing quite like the Gorge Amphitheatre. Time and time again I am blown away by the incredible views as well as the crazy, happy and free people here. I think for this trip especially, my friends and I might have been among the craziest. It couldn’t have been a better day, which was nice because driving blind in a rainstorm for nearly two hours before we arrived had been extremely nerve racking. The sun shined down on us as we set up our tents, cracked some beers and settled into our campsite. After a while, we ate and began to plan our departure time. The Digital Oasis
On Friday, June 24th, around noon, seven girls hopped into a pimpin’ Honda Odyssey to head from Seattle to the Gorge Amphitheatre for Paradiso 2016 . The excitement oozed through the minivan as flower headbands were compared and chatter about how excited they were to see The Chainsmokers. Just because it’s EDM does not automatically classify it as a rave. A rave is party; Paradiso is a festival – hence the name, “Paradiso Festival.” By definition a festival is an “organized series of concerts, plays, or movies, typically one held annually in the same place.” People from 18 years old to over 50 years old attend and this was my fourth...

A Paradiso Paradise

A Paradiso Paradise
USC’s Paradiso combines electronic music with nature at the gorgeous Gorge Amphitheatre. There is really nothing comparable to that mainstage view. Blooming into its 5th year, Paradiso is now squaring up with festivals like Electric Forest, Hard Summer and Tomorrowland with amazing stage production, carnival rides, art installations and a plethora of performing artists. So, if you are gearing up for Paradiso 2016 , make sure to check out these featured artists. Bassnectar No stranger to this scene, Bassnectar has been highly active since his first album was released in 2001. His music has been described as amorphous and ever-changing. Bassnectar is what you could easily call dubstep but it is really much more than that. Elements of hip hop breaks and groovy melodies are always working behind the heavy dripping bass sounds. His set will be one of the...
