5 Cozy Date Night Ideas

Date-Night-2
Baby, it’s cold outside. But that doesn’t mean you can’t stay warm with bae and have fun this winter. Check out these 5 date night ideas for inspiration. 1. Glassblowing Heat things up by taking a class together at Rainier Glass Studio. There are several tiers to choose from, but some of the one-of-a-kind items you could make include an ornament, glass flower, votive, concave bowl, martini glass or vase. There’s even an option to BYOB (blow your own bong). You start with a flaming chunk of gooey, molten glass that you then dip in color and return to the furnace. After, you roll it, blow it, twist and/or turn it as a taffy-like glob hardens into your shape of choice. Master glassblowers will help you through the whole process – no artistic skills are necessary! Rainier Glass Studio ,...

LUZIA: It Was All a Dream

LUZIA: It Was All a Dream
The circus has finally arrived in the Seattle area – well the "Cirque" that is. The highly anticipated touring show, LUZIA, premiered this past Thursday under the Big Top inside Marymoor Park. Opening nights are always a big deal – it’s the first impression; it sets the standard on what to expect. I’ve been to three other Cirque opening nights, LOVE, Michael Jackson ONE, VIVA Elvis (no longer in production), and I saw O after it had been around for about year. All the shows are on massive stages in Las Vegas so experiencing Cirque du Soleil under the Big Top was a first. Any show Cirque produces is exceptional, but LUZIA was incredibly different because it was the best Cirque show I’ve seen yet.   Once my date and I arrived, we were greeted by a Mariachi stilt walker...

Festival Review: Bumbershoot 2016

Festival Review: Bumbershoot 2016
The Bumbershoot Festival was one hell of a weekend. What makes Bumbershoot so special is not only the different musical genres it provides but also the wide variety of entertainment as well. For 3 days, Seattle Center is taken over by music, comedy, theatre, film, visual arts, dance performances and more. The ability to jump from a yoga class, to a laser show, to stand up comedy and still have plenty of time for live music is something you mustn’t take for granted. Of course, Bumbershoot also attracts a classic mass of festival folk who range in age, creeds, color and music preference. No matter the differences, all of us were there to have a great time together and enjoy the last bit of summer, which despite a bit of rain during Friday, shined down on us splendidly for the...

Festival Review: Captiol Hill Block Party 2016

Festival Review: Captiol Hill Block Party 2016
It’s always a pleasure when a large group of people come together to party in the streets, especially when it comes to Capitol Hill Block Party . This 3 day festival is a cornucopia of artists and attendees where a good time comes naturally. And now in its 20 th year, CHBP is set in stone as a fundamental part of Seattle music scene. “I just think of it as a part of Seattle. It’s been happening since we were little kids here….. It’s just been a part of our upbringing,” said Tangerine’s Marika and Miro. “It’s dope to have major artists come through our little Capitol Hill, you know?” said Beeba of Brothers From Another. This local party never fails when it comes to a line up and sadly, not all could be included in this review because it...

Seattle’s Meaningful Merrymaking

Seattle’s Meaningful Merrymaking
Summer in Seattle is known to be one of the finest secrets in the nation. With summer soirees just around the corner, that secret is about to be savored among locals and tourists alike. We can almost taste the outdoor movie popcorn. We can almost hear Ben Harper at Marymoor and Steve Miller at Chateau Ste Michelle. We can almost feel the sun… almost. How can you make the most of the summer season? My advice is to make it meaningful; no matter where you celebrate summer, there are awesome causes and Seattle charity events that make it easy to kill two birds with one stone. Pick a cause, enjoy life to the fullest, and make a difference. Here are some of our favorites to get you started. Negroni Week @ Six Seven June 6 - 12 Negroni Week is...

Good Old Fashioned Seattle Whiskey Cocktails

Good Old Fashioned Seattle Whiskey Cocktails
You don’t have to go to be a mad man to enjoy a good old fashioned whiskey cocktail. Get Southern with a mint julep or Sazerac. Jet set to the East coast with a Manhattan. Do you like it sweet with a smash or sour with lemon? As I learned from my interview with Women Who Love Whiskey, Washington has more whiskey distilleries per capita than any other state, city, or county which is one of the reasons why you can be sure Seattle is well-versed in the language whiskey cocktails. Fado You don’t have to fly across the pond to experience Ireland. Fado is your portal to the Dublin pub scene situated conveniently in Pioneer Square. Kick start the day or night with an Irish Breakfast Shot: Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey and butterscotch schnapps, an OJ chaser, plus smoky...
