Alcohol vs Cannabis

It is safe to say that alcohol has been culturally celebrated for years as the go-to substance for enjoying social gatherings, liquor courage, relieving stress or to feel good. But how many times have you woken up after a night of drinking and felt useless the entire day? You have zero motivation to get out of bed, be social, be productive, and your mind is so clouded that even thinking seems painful. Besides there being multiple health concerns in relation to drinking alcohol, including addiction, the most concerning is that on average 88,000 deaths a year due to alcohol poisoning (CDC). 

There are alternative options to fulfill desired needs that alcohol can provide. Cannabis offers the same stress-relieving qualities but without the countless toxic chemicals and hangover the next day. The stigma behind cannabis consumption still exists. You may wonder how it could be considered as a social aspect when your mind pictures a group of stoner kids zoned out and eating chips at a party. The problem has much to do with the outdated dialogue media and lawmakers have continued to use in regards to cannabis since the 1930’s; classifying it as a schedule 1 controlled substance and completely devaluing any scientific medical research that supports how it can provide therapeutic benefits. We are fed the misunderstanding that cannabis in any dose damages the human brain and body while mild to moderate alcohol consumption is considered safe and reasonably normal. However, cannabis actually elevates your senses to provide a more in the moment, present feeling with a healthy record of zero deaths a year from consumption. In fact, many users can regularly count on it to boost motivation, creativity and allow them to fully be “in the moment” with loved ones. Most importantly, many users report it helps combat stress, contributing to an overall sense of well-being. Not to mention with cannabis consumption alone, you don't have those “hangover” issues the next day.

Now this isn’t to necessarily say you should put down the bottle the next time you feel a need of release and roll one up instead. We're just saying it's worth considering cannabis in regards to improving your overall well-being. Remember, cannabis is a subjective substance. If it isn’t for you, it isn’t for you. Listen to your body and do what’s best for YOU. The point is to be educated on what options are available because, who knows, those options might revolutionize your life for the long haul.
