September Seattle Food News

As summer comes to a close this edition of food news covers late summer and early fall. Get the most notable food news on the Seattle food scene including what’s new, what’s closing, and where you can have your next foodie adventure.

Vestal opened on Westlake in South Lake Union on 8/23. The latest Josh Henderson project is shrouded in deep mahogany wood décor and decorated with delicate succulent accents. The food will undoubtedly be thoughtful with rich Northwest-inspired ingredients. The connected space Cantine has recently opened it's doors and is already busy servicing the Amazon crowd and Poulet Galore are slated to open early fall.

The Butcher’s Table
Another Westlake charmer opened earlier this summer and has already started to reign in the Amazon crowd with the sleek interior and floor to ceiling windows. The Butchers Table was founded by Kurt Beecher Dammeier and features Colorado raised Waygu, local drafts, and craft cocktails with local Seattle spirits.

Bar Harbor
On September 6th South Lake Union also gets a new Atlantic-inspired spot on Fairview. Dungeness Crab Rolls, Lobster and heirloom tomato salad, and New England Clam Chowder are among the menu items.

Paseo SoDo
Paseo opened its doors at the new location in SoDo at the end of July serving up the same award-winning sandwiches that have been winning over the nation for the last 20 years. The SoDo location will feature new menu items in addition to the old favorites, plus beer, wine, and sangria.

Temperance Café and Bar
The vintage digs at the Smith Tower has revamped their observation deck to include the speakeasy style Temperance Café and Bar. Cocktails like the Chartrulep and Smith Tower Sazerac are best enjoyed with a panoramic sweeping view.

Fond Farewells:
Chop Shop
Erika Burke’s elegant spot on Capitol Hill, Chop Shop, suddenly shuttered its doors early August. Burke plans to focus on Volunteer Park Café for the time being.

Boom Noodle
The tears of ramen lovers fell steadily when the news broke about Boom Noodle. The Capital Hill go-to spot for menu items like the braised pork Tokyo Ramen will be missed after almost a decade of ramen at the location.

Foodie Adventures:
The Chef’s Counter at Scout
A unique dining experience at Josh Henderson's PNW wilderness-inspired oasis. The Chef's Counter includes a frequently rotating menu of unique Chef curated courses that is unlike anything even the most widely traveled foodies have ever tried.

Skillet’s Backyard BBQ
Skillet and Seattle Cider Company are teaming up to put on a juicy foodie event that showcases PNW cider. The event will take place on four consecutive Fridays (9/16, 9/23, 9/30, and 10/7) at the Ballard and Capitol Hill Skillet locations. All menu items will be cider infused including a Seattle Cider Co. Three Pepper Hard Cider and Ancho glazed tri-tip.
