Congratulations. We made it through the holidays! Now it is time to get back to what we do best, binge-watch Netflix. With so many shows now available, sometimes it can be difficult to find the best one for you. To save yourself from the perpetual Netflix scroll, check out these five awesome Netflix shows that you can stream right now.

Black Mirror
Black Mirror is back with their fourth season that is guaranteed to scare the hell out of you. Each episode, “USS Callister”, “Arkangel”, “Crocodile“, “Hang the DJ”, “Metal Head”, and "Black Museum” focuses loosely on a form of advanced technology. Whether it is a chip inserted in your child’s brain to help you track them or a dating app that tells you how long your relationship will last, the technology always seems to hinder more than help in the Black Mirror universe. As always, each episode will captivate you but also make you fear what the future holds. Longtime fans will also recognize Easter eggs confirming that each season takes place in the same universe.

Mindhunter is set in 1977 during the early days of criminal psychology and criminal profiling at the FBI. This series focuses on FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench as well as psychologist Wendy Carr who interview convicted serial killers. During these interviews, they hope to understand the mind of each killer and use their research to solve ongoing murder cases. Mindhunter starts a little slow but as Holden, Bill, and Wendy dive deeper and deeper into the minds of serial killers, you cannot help but get wrapped up in this fabulously detailed and well-written series. It has been renewed for a second season but currently has no release date.

Peaky Blinders
This series takes place in Birmingham, England, after World War I and centers on the Peaky Blinders gang, their cunning leader Thomas Shelby played by Cillian Murphy, and the infamous Shelby family. The Peaky Blinders control most of the Birmingham police force and the gang’s common activities include bribery, extortion, smuggling, gambling, racketeering, robbery, and even murder. They go toe to toe with common criminals, incorruptible police inspectors, the IRA, Russians, and Italian mobsters and somehow, Thomas always finds a way to land on top with his pockets fatter than before. All four seasons of Peaky Blinders are available for streaming and it is rumored that season 5 will be released in 2019. By order of the Peaky Blinders, don’t miss this phenomenal show.

American Vandal
American Vandal is simultaneously idiotic and genius. This mockumentary carries itself quite like Netflix’s Making a Murderer but instead of highly trained lawyers investigating a shady murder case, two high school friends, Peter Maldonado and Sam Ecklund, try to uncover who is responsible for spray painting the faculty’s cars with male genitalia. Jimmy Tatro stars as Dylan Maxwell, the senior class clown who is accused of the crime and then expelled from school shortly after.  American Vandal is without a doubt completely ridiculous, but the amount of effort Peter and Sam put into their investigation as well as the production of their documentary makes this show worth a watch. Season Two of American Vandal has been green-lit by Netflix and will premier later this year.

This supernatural thriller series focuses on the disappearance of two children in Winden, a small German town with a troubled history. As members of four different families search for the lost children, secrets surrounding their families as well as their quiet town begin to surface. The storyline jumps between three different time frames: 1953, 1986, and 2019. Each time frame brings forth a selection of complex characters, twists, cliffhangers, and supernatural elements. This series is perfect for anyone who enjoyed The Killing, Twin Peaks or Stranger Things. Dark is the first German produced Netflix series and production for season two will begin this year.
